Northland Business Excellence Awards 2023

On Friday 3rd November we attended the 2023 Northland Business Excellence Awards held at Forum North. And what a night it was!
The Northland Business Excellence Awards are an annual event which offers local businesses an incredible opportunity to review, measure and highlight their business practices. While the Customer Choice Award is a category based on nominations, the rest of the categories are based on a submission document and a site visit from the judges. The categories we entered into were:
Creative Northland Excellence in Cultural and Creative Industries Award
Northland Regional Council Excellence in Sustainability and Climate Action Award
WRMK Lawyers Excellence in Business - Small Business Award
We were also lucky enough to have been nominated for the More FM Northland 91.6 Customer Choice Award too
The submission process was a massive undertaking to say the least, but incredibly valuable. It gave us the chance to zoom out on our day-to-day processes and discover new opportunities. Through it all we've learnt so much.
In mid-September, we had our lovely judges come to sit down with us in-salon to discuss our submission and aspects of our business. While it was nerve-wracking to have others nosey through the inner workings of our baby, it was pretty empowering as well. Thankfully it was nowhere near as scary as we'd anticipated—not at all like Dragon's Den. We're super proud of the work we've put into our submission and are also very proud of our team who were able to answer the judge's questions with confidence.
From there, it was a matter of waiting for the announcement at the awards on the big night in early November.
And what a night it was! Congratulations to the winners, the finalists and all the businesses who entered and were nominated. It was inspiring to hear and see some of the fantastic work coming out of Te Tai Tokerau 🤩
A massive thank you to our team, clients and supporters, for cheering us on over our (nearly) four years in business and for your support and aroha going into the awards.
As first time entrants it was a massive deal for us to enter, and to come away as finalists in each of the three categories we entered into is absolutely amazing! We are humbled, grateful and so bloody stoked ♥️
Like they say: ‘Do the mahi, get the treats.’ The awards night was the icing on the cake and it was a privilege to share it with our fabulous team!

More FM Northland had this awesome 360 photo booth from Cheers Weddings & Events set up in the concourse. Naturally we had to make the most of it!
